Kern River Bear SOLD

Original Work
It was quite the treat to be driving for a few days back from New Mexico and to stumble upon the Keyesville Bike Park on the Kern River. The Keyesville Classic Mt. Bike race was in full swing. It was downhill day which left the cross country trail open to civilians. My weary driving bones were ecstatic to be peddling up the mountain in anticipation of some big mountain fun. I needed to get my ya yaa's out. The views of the surrounding mountains and the Kern River were alive with spring green and early flowering plants. The trail lived up to it's reputation.
In my art trailer were 2 blank canvas looking for a scene to paint. When I finished the ride I packed up the trailer and headed for home. "Wait a minute", I said to myself. , Covid 19 was just hitting the country. Everything was shut down at home. I made a u-turn and headed back to a lovely camp site at a pull out above the bike park entrance. I went for a hike and discovered a dozen or more ideal painting sites on the Kern River. The next morning I carried two canvas and my painting set up down to the river. The result is the latest edition to my Fresh Air Animal Series, Kern River Bear 42"x42" Oil on Canvas.
